WELCOME
Welcome to the ABTC 2018 National Specialty – A Belgian Nation Celebration! What an exciting time for Belgian Lovers!! So, I ask you……what’s better than attending our Belgian Tervuren National Specialty? Attending all four Belgian Nationals at the same venue at the same time! Don’t expect much to change for our national, but there will be an opportunity to see all our sister breeds in the same venue doing their thing alongside of us doing ours.
Purina Farms is the perfect world-class venue to have a dog show – especially a national!
I can’t say enough about all the wonderful volunteers who have stepped forward to join the 2018 Committee. Please give them a huge pat on the back for their efforts! It takes a village to put on a National, and I am blessed to be a part of the ABTC Village!
We’ll start the week off at Purina Farms for the Herding trial. Our committee will be working with the farm and their stock to be sure that they are ready for our upright dogs. Also during that first weekend, tracking will be held at Sullivan Field. We’re going to do something fun and new with Agility. We’ll be doing three Agility trials concurrently at Purina Farms with the other clubs. This will allow us to have our classes intermingled and run simultaneously, HOWEVER, all placements and prizes will be awarded as separate events (based on breed).
Obedience and Rally will also be held at the same time as the other clubs, but these events will be held in separate rings with separate judges. Look for Working Sweeps to join our regular Puppy & Veteran Sweeps as well as the Beginner Puppy Classes. Breed judging will commence on Thursday with the Non-Regular & Class Dog judging, Friday for Non-Regular & Class Bitch judging, and Best of Breed and Junior Showmanship wrapping things up on Saturday. The other breeds will have their typical schedule for their breed judging in separate rings in the big hall of Purina Farms.
While most of our regular events will be held separately, we will try to combine some of the fun events for all to enjoy together. Look for the Welcome Reception to be a group affair as will a special event for the Juniors.
I feel so lucky to be involved in such a special event for our breed. Working with the other clubs on this event has been a pleasure, but as you can imagine, there will be a LOT of moving parts. Please be patient with all of us as we do our best to accommodate all the schedules for our very versatile breeds.
I look forward to seeing all our Belgian Family together in one place and Celebrating our wonderfully versatile breeds!
See you in 2018!!
